Unplugged

You know how they say you should never put a TV in the bedroom? Well, when we got the new TV for the living room around Christmas time, we put the old one in the bedroom. Then promptly never used it. Okay, never isn’t the right word. We watched a few episodes of Growing Pains on DVD the first day.  Of course we want to watch movies, etc on our new big TV! Duh! Why use the little one? Of course the idea was to watch TV before going to bed but as the remote didn’t work, neither of us wanted to get up and turn it off, so we just didn’t watch it in the first place.

My coworker had mentioned a few times how she didn’t have a TV. I assumed it was by choice, I know of lots of people who forgo TV in favor of reading or other activities, we don’t have cable on ours, and some people don’t have at TV at all. After a little investigation, it was revealed that hers simply didn’t work, so she got rid of it (I think). I figured, we didn’t use the bedroom TV, why not just offer it to her.

Long story short:

I bought a few flowers (actually, I asked the florist for some older ones I could get for cheap, and she obliged) to liven up the empty space. Loving the fact that the big black square is gone!

“Anyone who has two [TVs] should share with the one
who has none” –Doug, paraphrasing Luke 3:11

One Bed, Three Ways

[First and foremost, a note about For Japan With Love (Blogger’s day of silence). The initial goal was to raise $5500, but at the time of writing this, they’ve raised $55,334. Ten times their goal–Incredible!]

Just because I was sick of looking at my bed the same way all winter long, and because while putting away some winter blankets I discovered this white one I’d never used before (wedding gift) I decided to do a little switcheroo on the ole bed.

My pebble comforter has a lighter and darker side to it, here’s a picture I’ve probably shown here before, with the light side of the comforter up:

I don’t think I ever snapped one with the dark side up, but you can see it folded down at the head of the bed in this “gradient” shot (darker at the top, lighter in the middle, white at the end):

Also, covering the whole bed in white looks fabulous! I’m worried about it getting dirty though… Shoes off the bed!

What do you think? Which is your favorite?

Also, for those of you who were wondering how my “make the bed every day” New Year’s resolution was going? (I’m sure you were all on the edge of your seats) Let’s just say my I’ve done it for 39% of the year so far. Yay math. Still, I have been making an effort! Is it sad to say 39% is an improvement? It’s more than 2 days of the week! Not bad?

Changing things up for spring? How are your New Year’s resolutions coming?
Any tips for photographing a bed and actually making it look good?

Ahead of the Curve

I’m Green. And I ain’t talking about environmentalism…

Yesterday I checked out the article Green In The Bedroom (The Next Big Color) on Apartment Therapy. Since that article was published, they’ve added two more pointing out green in the kitchen and green furniture. This all points back to another article published after a January visit to Maison & Objet in Paris about green. Green in the bedroom, you say?

Guess who’s already totally ahead of the curve:

Very pumped about being at the forefront of color fashion!
