What a Weekend!

Last time I wrote was Friday–so many things are different since then! First of all, I did push to get all that IKEA furniture built so we didn’t have to move in “around” it… and I think I made the RIGHT move there. After Saturday our floors were covered–and I mean covered with boxes.

Yes, I guess you could say Saturday got a lot accomplished. It’s so cliche, but moving really does make a person realize how much stuff they actually have.

I’m currently writing this at The Well because we haven’t gotten our internet service transferred to the new house yet… reminds me of the good old days when I first moved here and Lisa and I didn’t have any service up in the loft.

Moved!

What a weekend.

We have over 90% of our earthly belongings in the new house. By the end of the week the apartment should be empty and clean, with the keys turned in and change-of-address filed with the USPS. I haven’t really been sad about the whole thing, but writing those words really did kind of feel shocking. I did have my moment of bittersweet-ness when we “undecorated” the kitchen, leaving it looking so bare and nondescript.

Depending on this evening, you may get a post with pictures but you may not. We’ll see. Should have internet in the new house on Wednesday and the blogging schedule will return to normal! That is, if “normal” ever existed… I am slowly but surely going to get this blog-work balance figured out. I need to get into my old habit of writing posts at night (for publication the next day) instead of trying to cram a quick post in during my lunch break.

Short Post

Thinking about these bar stools for the new house… $100 for two of these knock-offs sounds SUH-WEET when evidently the French TOLIX ones (you can get at DWR, I guess) cost like $300 each. OUCH! 1/6 of the price? Thank you, knock offs.

Tomorrow is moving day. We have already moved in a fridge, a bookshelf, two chairs, and… that’s about it. Not too impressive. Oh and a couple boxes of books. The goal was to have all of our IKEA stuff put together before “official” move-in day, while we still have wide open spaces, so I’m going to lobby for that task being finished tonight. That way we’ll actually have somewhere to put our items rather than the middle of the floor. On the wardrobe, we have to put the doors on. The dresser….. is still in its 2 ultra-heavy boxes.

Well, there you have it: the small brain dump I can fit in my lunch hour between playing with the pupster (who now has his own twitter), making lunch (creamy chicken-flavored ramen with tuna and paprika… ultra cheap ultra delicious, bee tee dubs), and getting back to work on time.

Lastly, does anyone else get bummed out when YHL only posts once on Fridays? I know, I know, totally selfish. Let them have lives!
