The Search is Over

Ever since the wedding, and even before the wedding, I have had my heart set on a multi-opening picture frame for photos of the event. Not the most original idea in the universe, I know, but I thought it would be a more tasteful way to display my pictures than having them in small frames all over the room. So I looked at Kohl’s, Target, and Hobby Lobby (my home-decor resources are limited due to where I live) and couldn’t find the perfect one. Granted, the one I had in mind was more or less exactly what my friend got from Costco in 2008 so the chances of finding the exact same one were limited. BUT!  The search for the perfect multi-window picture frame has come to an end, as I found, ordered, and received one from Crate & Barrel! Here’s the frame…

Here’s what it would look like in my expertly-styled entryway (assuming I had the extra $100 to get two more of them)…

But all joking aside, I really do have a picture of how it turned out with pictures of me and people I know in it instead of strangers and strangers’ pets. And it was a one day job, thanks to Wal-Mart being able to print an 8×10 in-store. Trust me, the only time I’ll endorse Wal-Mart is for the photo lab.

Funny story, about actually getting the frame. You may have noticed me talking about never seeming to connect with the UPS/FedEx guy (due to being at work) and how a few intended packages have slipped away. Like the mystery package from Georgia I never got and don’t know who it’s from. Anyway, yesterday as we were shutting down Amics and I was taking the trash out to the dumpster, I saw the FedEx truck, ran over, and waited till the guy came back. I signed for my package and asked him to please leave it at the door even though I wouldn’t be home. Worked like a charm.

That was a little rabbit trail, wasn’t it? Well, here it is, the moment you’ve been waiting for. Let’s play another round of Watch Staci’s Camera Turn Straight Lines into Bended Lines! I mean, um, a picture of the finished product.

I’m not as into black-and-white as the Crate & Barrel product stylists are. I like to think I’m a little more colorful than that. Not to say that I won’t someday put black and white pics in it. Just not today.

Scentsy

Yesterday I got a great surprise from UPS.

The surprise was that I encountered the UPS man and got my package in the first place! (Dear 2 missed packages, please come back from the black hole and visit my door….)

Actually, the real surprise was a gift from my good friend who sent me a Scentsy kit! She’d showed me the warmer a long time ago when she first started selling. She said that it reminded her of me and now it’s mine!!! She also sent 3 wax bars, coconut lemongrass (which I’m using now), honey pear cider, and sunkissed citrus! I’m in olfactory heaven. Picture time!

Isn’t it adorable? Love the soft colors and sweet design.

This warmer uses a light bulb instead of a open flame, making it safer. I don’ t have to worry about it when I leave the room!

Close-up of the bird on the top of the warmer.

If you’re jealous of my sweet score, you can visit her Scentsy site and get one for yourself :)

Organization Perfection

One of my current goals (I have a lot of goals, okay?) is getting my office to look more like a “room” than “that space behind the room divider where they shove stuff they don’t know what to do with.” Especially as I try to blog more consistently (every day if I can) I have found myself spending more and more time in this cluttered area.

Last night was a big deal! I did some major rearrangement and reorganization. It’s your lucky day… I dug around on my memory card and came up with a “before” picture. It is actually from quite a while ago. I think I took it back in September when I was taking pictures for my room divider post, to show what was going on behind the room divider.

Redoing the cabinets is on my list of New Year's Resolutions.

Not a ton has changed. The shelf I’m about to show you is over there on the left, covered in a blue piece of fabric because the “organization” on the shelf itself was, as they say, a hot mess.

I pretty much swapped the positions of the green chair and the shelf. This makes the office seem much more “roomlike.” Also, several rugs have been added which adds to the eclectic nature of the space. Once I do a little more in here I’ll share more pictures.

GLORIOUS ORGANIZATION.

The blue tote now contains our power tools (2 cordless drills, a dremel, and attachments). The boxes below that contain an assortment of things–one contains cassette tapes and vhs tapes for example. Also featured are sewing patterns. The two boxes on the top (one black, one white) hold CDs. Doug and I each have one and we got our most-listened-to CDs from our collection and put them in an accessible place. The rest are in a cabinet elsewhere.

Speaking of tapes, I am currently listening to an Emmylou Harris tape (including a rendition of “Mr Sandman,” a song that reminds me of Back To The Future every time!) on that radio you see there. Very nice.
